Strategy Card For Mississippi Stud @ Barona Casino
I finally got around to making a nice, colourful strategy card for Mississippi Stud, as it’s played at Barona Casino near San Diego (i.e., where you get to see all the players hands). I’ve been playing with an awful print out of my strategy table, and it would sometimes slow the game down. We won again last night, thanks to a full house on the last hand!
OK, so I finally got around to testing this Mississippi Stud game out at Barona last night (9/26) and found Mr. Discount Gambling playing. There was a seat open, so I sat down and started to play. I was initially down about $150, making an initial $10 bet. Then I hit a straight, and a few pairs and two pairs and next thing you know I’m up $500. An older gentleman next to me was hitting hands left and right and betting between $25 and $100 per hand. He had a pretty good intuitive feel for the game without using the optimal strategy matrix. I think he ended the night up several thousand dollars.
At this point I really liked the game and I liked Mr. Discount Gambling’s (“DG”) optimal strategy chart! And, I liked it even better after being dealt pocket deuces. I had a $10 bet bet and was about to make my second bet another $10, but I was instructed that as long as there are no other deuces showing, I should 3X my bet on second street. I was reluctant, but I had faith in Mr. DG’s math. The dealer turns up the first card, and boom, a deuce! The dealer turns over 4th street, and KABOOM! another deuce for quads! The easiest 4 grand I ever made. I ended the night up $4,300.
Mr. G, you are Big Time. I see how you roll. Quads deuces, baby, $4k winner. And to show it wasn’t just luck, you win another $300 without the quads. Geez I wish there was a full game every day, round the clock. I’m going to call the pit an see if there’s a game going now.
